Residents of Kabayi and parts of Aso in Nasarawa State have made a passionate appeal to Governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently intervene in the rehabilitation and protection of critical infrastructure in their communities.
The appeal, conveyed in a statement by Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon, a resident of Aso Pada, acknowledged the state government’s ongoing construction of a 2.6-kilometre overpass bridge in Mararaba, describing it as a commendable effort to ease persistent traffic congestion in the area.
However, the residents expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of roads within Kabayi and Aso, attributing the damage largely to poor drainage systems.
They called on the state government to clear debris blocking drainage channels to ensure the free flow of water, warning that continued neglect could further worsen the already collapsed sections of roads.
According to them,parts of a multi-million-naira road constructed a few years ago have caved in, particularly around the Dunamis Church area and near the “Double Fueling Stations” in Aso A, along the Aso Secondary School axis.
The residents stressed that urgent intervention is needed to prevent further degradation and restore accessibility.
In addition to road repairs, the community urged the state government to improve connectivity by upgrading feeder roads linking the area to the Federal Capital Territory through Gwagalape.
They noted that better road access would significantly enhance economic activities and ease movement for residents who commute daily.
The appeal also highlighted the need for improved electricity supply, with residents calling for the construction of an injection substation to address persistent power challenges in the area.
While expressing hope in the responsiveness of the Sule administration, the residents emphasized that addressing these concerns would not only safeguard existing investments but also improve the living conditions and economic prospects of the affected communities.
They reaffirmed their support for the government and praying for the continued success of its developmental agenda.
