The Police Command in Kogi State has deployed reinforced personnel along the Lokoja–Abuja Highway, following increased vehicular congestion due to ongoing construction and road diversions.
The move,the command maintained is a proactive move to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow

Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, for the Police Command, Lokoja,disclosed this in a statement he signed and made available a copy to The Reporters on Monday
He said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, who was present at key points,on Sunday,alongside the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), directed the deployment of various police units
The units,Aya added,include the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Motor Traffic Section, Safer Highway Patrol Teams, and Rapid Response Squad.
” The personnel have been strategically stationed at critical points, diversion routes, and checkpoints to regulate traffic, prevent gridlocks, and ensure rapid response to any security or traffic incidents.
“CP Kankarofi charged the officers to carry out their duties with professionalism, firmness, and civility, while strictly enforcing traffic regulations.
“Commuters and motorists are advised to remain patient, obey road signs, follow diversions, and cooperate with law enforcement officials to facilitate smooth movement along the highway.
The Police Command Kogi State reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and pledged to continue implementing proactive strategies to maintain safety and order on major highways across the State,” the police image maker said.
Our Correspondent reports that the highway, as at the time of this report on Monday, was going through gridlock, leaving many passengers stranded among other inconveniences.
