A 20 year old herder, Nasiru Sarki on Tuesday appeared Magistrate Monisola Kamson of the Magistrate’s court Ilorin, for raping, a culpable homicide contrary to Section 283 and 221 of penal code law.
The defendant was alleged to have raped one Maimuna Mohammed, a cattle rearer to death in Lade, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara state.
The prosecutor, Ayeni Gbenga, said that the brother of the deceased, Ibrahim Mohammed, reported the matter to the police after the cattle her sister took out for grazing returned to camp without their rearer.
“The search team raised by the community in respect of the matter however found the lifeless body of the deceased in the bush.
“The defendant,during the investigation, was arrested through the deceased’s phone he made away with after allegedly raping her.
“The defendant confessed to committing the crime during police interrogation,” he said
The prosecutor also informed the court that the defendant was arraigned with motion expate.
He,therefore, urged the court to administer law in discharging its descrectionary power over the matter.

He, however, ordered the defendant to be in the custody of the Mandala Correctional Service Centre,Ilorin and adjourned the case to July,13 2020 for hearing.
