The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has trained more than 2,000 personnel in key areas of professionalism, including effective road safety management, within the past three months.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, revealed this on Thursday in Abuja while addressing 80 participants who had just completed a training programme on communication skills.
Mohammed emphasized that the corps prioritizes personnel development, strategic communication, and public education to address increasingly complex road safety challenges.
He expressed his commitment to professionalism and achieving the policy objectives of his administration.
These training initiatives, he said, were aimed at equipping FRSC personnel with the necessary skills to handle evolving road safety issues.
According to him,the capacity-building programme was designed to empower members of staff of the commission with knowledge in various areas, such as public relations, media relations, strategic communication, crisis management, and road safety administration.
“We have launched another phase of a comprehensive capacity-building program, training 80 mid-level communicators.
“The training, which combines theoretical and practical sessions, is meant to enhance their skills to meet the growing demands of road safety management and traffic administration, Mohammed explained.
He added that workshops and mentoring sessions were also conducted by both in-house and international experts.
The FRSC boss noted that this initiative underscored the corps’ dedication to positioning the FRSC as a leading road safety agency capable of addressing modern road safety challenges.
“In the last three months alone, over 2,000 personnel have been trained in various professional areas since I assumed office, and the impact on productivity is already evident,” Mohammed added.
He commended the participants’ performance and reaffirming that investing in personnel is an investment in the future of road safety in the country.
