The Magongo Development Association (MDA) has joined family members, friends, and well-wishers in mourning the passing of His Royal Majesty, Prof. Olugbemiro Akerejola, the revered Uboro of Ogoriland.
In a condolence message signed by its National President, Prince Jordan Alaba Akpata, and made available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday, the association expressed deep shock over the traditional ruler’s death, describing it as a monumental loss to Ogoriland, Kogi State, and Nigeria at large.
Prince Akpata noted that the late royal father was more than a traditional ruler,he was a bridge-builder who strengthened the bond between the Ogori and Magongo communities.
According to him, the Uboro distinguished himself as a man of peace, discipline, philanthropy, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of children and the less privileged.
“The Magongo Development Association is greatly saddened by the passing of His Majesty. “We pray God to grant his soul eternal rest and give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
The MDA President urged the Akereja family to take solace in the fact that the royal father lived a purposeful and fulfilled life.
He emphasized that the late Uboro’s contributions to education, culture, socio-economic progress, and political development will remain indelible in the annals of the state’s history.
Prof. Akerejola, until his death, was celebrated not only as a custodian of culture and tradition but also as a scholar and statesman whose influence transcended his community.
