The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.

This resolution was passed during the party’s national convention held in Abuja on Saturday, 9th May 2026.

In a post shared via its official handle, the party announced, “NDC presidential ticket is zoned to the South!!”

The party further clarified that the 2027 ticket is intended for a single four-year term, while the 2031 ticket has been allocated to Northern Nigeria.

This announcement coincides with the party’s national convention in Abuja, which is being attended by key leaders including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Seriake Dickson and others.

The convention’s primary goal is to “ractify some of the recent decisions of the national executive committee of the NDC.”

Based on the agenda provided to Journalists, the meeting is set to address and resolve several critical matters, including “zoning, ratification of the amended party constitution, and the election of national executives.”
