The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday afternoon, laid his late father, Alhaji Momohsani Ododo, to rest at Upogoro, his hometown in Okene Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent reports that the burial, conducted according to Islamic rites, was led by the Chief Imam of Okene Central Mosque, Alhaji Salihu Abere.

He was joined by other Islamic clerics, who offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased and sought Almighty Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and Aljanah Firdaus for him.

The solemn occasion was also graced by the Ohinoyi of Egbiraland, His Royal Majesty Dr. Mohammed Tijani Anaje, and some members of the state’s traditional council, governor Ododo, former governor Yahaya Bello and top government functionaries among others who joined in paying their last respects.

Confirming the passing, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, announced that Alhaji Momohsani Ododo died on Monday evening at the age of 83.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser on Media to the governor , Ismaila Isah, has commiserated with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, over the death of his beloved father.

In a statement he signed and copied The Reporters on Tuesday in Lokoja, Isah described the deceased as a man whose life embodied humility, piety and dedication to the wellbeing of others.

He noted that his wisdom and quiet strength shaped generations and found full expression in the leadership qualities of his son, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

“Though his passing leaves a deep void, we draw comfort from the rich, devoted and honourable life he lived and the enduring values he instilled in his family and community,” the governor’s aide said.

Isah prayed that Almighty Allah showers the deceased with mercy, overlooks his shortcomings, and grants him a place in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

He also prayed for the Governor and his entire family to find strength, peace, and courage at this difficult time.
