By Barth Ikiebe in Abuja.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has received a high-level delegation from Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, led by Mr. Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu.

The delegation include key industry players such as Mr. Yakubu Maishanu, Chairman/CEO of AYM Shafa Ltd., and Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, CEO of A.A. Rano.

During the meeting, the group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the federal government’s economic reforms, market stability, and increased private sector investment.

Discussions highlighted the positive impact of recent policy shifts, including the removal of petrol subsidies, improved domestic fuel supply, greater exchange rate stability, and a noticeable reduction in pump prices.

The marketers revealed that their companies now collectively supply nearly 20 million litres of petrol daily, without placing a fiscal burden on the government.

This, they said, underscores the effectiveness of private sector-led distribution.

The delegation commended the government’s reform efforts and urged continued policy clarity to boost investor confidence and ensure seamless market operations.

Our correspondent reports that a major point of emphasis was the sector’s commitment to accelerating investment in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure, aligning with Nigeria’s broader energy transition agenda.

In response, Mr. Edun praised the downstream operators for their resilience and leadership, acknowledging their vital role in ensuring energy security and fostering sustainable economic growth.

He reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to maintaining a stable policy environment that encourages private investment and supports inclusive development, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This engagement reflects the deepening partnership between public and private sector actors in building a more competitive, resilient, and forward-looking energy market for all Nigerians,” Edun said.
