Lokoja, March 24, 2025 – In a strategic move to bolster security and promote peaceful coexistence, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, convened a high-level meeting with key stakeholders in Ijumu Local Government Area.

He said the meeting, aimed at strengthening community policing and addressing security concerns, brought together notable figures in the area.
They include the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd); a representative of the Department of State Services (DSS); member representing Ijumu at the State House of Assembly; Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties; Chairman of Ijumu Local Government; the Olujumu of Ijumu; and members of the Miyetti Allah group.
In his address, CP Dantawaye emphasized the critical role of collaboration between security agencies and local communities in tackling crime and maintaining peace.
He urged residents to actively share intelligence with law enforcement, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
“The police alone cannot effectively secure lives and property without the cooperation of the people. We need to work together, exchange information, and build a safer environment for all,” he stated.
The Commissioner assured stakeholders that immigration agencies would be engaged to monitor and regulate movement in the area, ensuring proper documentation of individuals.
This, he said, would enhance accountability and minimize security threats within the local government.
Beyond crime prevention, the meeting delved into broader issues such as land ownership rights, the role of traditional institutions, and the importance of structured conflict resolution.
CP Dantawaye urged all parties to respect existing leadership structures and seek peaceful resolutions through dialogue rather than violence.
Reaffirming the police command’s commitment to professionalism and the protection of human rights, he warned against any form of lawlessness, declaring that security agencies are prepared to take firm action against individuals or groups threatening the peace of the area.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly, assuring them of the police’s readiness to respond swiftly to security threats.
