Amb Idris Ozovehe Muraina, the Chairperson of Kogi NGOs Network (KONGONET), in his speech, described the AGM as “not only marks a significant milestone in our collective journey but also serves as a moment of our reflection on the challenges we have faced and the victories we have achieved together over the passage years.”
The ambassador called on the participants to take a moment to acknowledge a profound loss that touched kogites
He congratulated participants for pushing through this year’s AGM despite the setbacks the NGO encountered.
” Your resilience speaks volumes about the strength of our work.Together ,we have navigated through storms,and it is this unity that will drive us forward,” Muraina said.
He called on the civil societies,CSOs, in the state to key in the implementation of the development plan to help government achieve the desired result.
Aliu urged members of COSs to study the document seriously, internalize its content and play their role to help government implement the document to help government achieve the desired goals of the development plan.to move the state forward.
Amb.Muraina paid glowing tribute to late Mrs.Henry Helen, kogi state Coordinator of the Association of Orphans and Vulnerable -Children NGOs in Nigeria,who died recently.
He commended the deceased for her tireless efforts and passion for the welfare of the orphans and vulnerable individuals, adding that such virtue had left an indelible mark “on all us”.
In a position paper by KONGONET, entitled ,The current economic hardship in Nigeria: A call for state -specific remediation strategies”,the NGO called on the state government to invest in irrigation systems,storage facilities,and access roads to ensure that farmers can produce and transport their goods efficiently among other efforts.
In the paper read by KONGONET’ secretary general, Mr.Reuben Joshua, the NGO, promised to consistently support laudable initiatives of the state government to ameliorating the suffering of Kogites and ensure the state upholds the tenets of democracy and fair play in the its administration of collective resources.
According to the NGO, empowerment should be data, driven, adding that the MDAs,in partnership with civil society organizations should collaboratively coordinate data collection of vulnerable groups across the state and carry out a robust economic stimulate empowerment.
The empowerment programme,KONGONET, added, cut across skills acquisition programmes,and other entrepreneurial initiatives that would be age,-appropriate.
