The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has advised motorists travelling to the South-West region of the country, through Lokoja to take the Suleja-Bida-Mokwa road.

Abuja gave the advice in a sentence, entitled “ROAD DIVERSION -ABUJA -LOKOJA ROAD”, a copy of which was made available to The Reporters on Friday.
He also urged those travelling to the South-South/South-East regions, through same town, to go through Nasarawa-Oweto Bridge-Adoka-Otupka axis.
According to him, the advice become imperative,owing to the flooding around Kortonkarfi and Lokoja, Kogi State, which has impeded the free flow of traffic on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway for days.
Kazeem added that the advice became necessary due to the fact that the water level might take another two or more days to subside.
Meanwhile, sources from kotonkarfe told our correspondent that the long queue of vehicles, necessitated by the flood, remained as at the time of this report, although with snaily movement.
Consequently,transport fare by either Okada or Kekenapep has gone as high as N2,500 for a trip of less than three kilometres in the case of Okada tiders and between N1,000 and N1,500 being charged by operators of okada riders for the same kilometres.
Big men wishing to ferry their vehicles through big boat,from Lokoja to Banda for onward journey to other parts of the the country, enroute Lokoja, pay at least N50,000 per vehicle or more, depending on the brand, weight and quality of the vehicle, according to investigation by The Reporters on Friday.
