The remains of Elder Emmanuel Owuda Oniwon(85), one of the popular casts of the now rested NTA Soap Opera, Cockrow at Dawn,have been committed to mother earth in Ikuehi, Okehi Local Governnent Area of kogi state.
Speaking at the Wake-keep in honour of the deceased, Pastor Joseph Suleman described the late Elder Oniwon as a great man who offered selfless service to the nation and his family.
Other sympathizers.who graced the solemn occasion, also paid glowing tribute to the late “Uncle Beke” for his positive contribution to the entertainment world through the soap opera.
They added that his role in the programme would remain indelible in many minds in the country, especially those that watched the programme which lasted between mid 70s and early 80s.
Our Correspondent recalls that the late Elder Oniwon also retired from the National Orientation Agency NOA.
Pastor Nixon Onimisi Oniwon, the son of the deceased, described his father as a great man and a lover of people, adding that his father contributed greatly to human and community development.
Pastor Oniwon said he was proud of the legacy of humility and service left by his father.
The Director-General of Radio Kogi, Alhaji Ojo Oyila and former Director-General of the Radio station, Mr Adeku Adava were among many eminent dignitaries that graced the occasion.
The late Elder Oniwon is survived by wives, children, grand and great grand children.
The online publication recalls that the death of Elder Oniwon brings to two,the number of Kogi State indigenes of ebira extraction who made land mark in the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
Dr Tolorunju Johnson Adavi Abraham, a movie producer, an actor and author,who died during an illness in Abuja on May 17,2022,was also buried recently amid encomiums by a cross section of the society, especially those in the entertainment world.
