Easter: Don’t toy with COVIDV-19 vaccine,Archbishop advises christians

The Anglican Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim,has called on Christians to take lead in observing all measures directed by the Governments to keep COVID-19 under check.

Ibezim gave the advice in his Easter message to the faithful made available through his media aide, Dr Emeke Odogwu on Sunday in Awka.

The cleric also urged the faithful to keep to the rules that would promote and enhance public health

“ Obeying the rules that govern the land on which you live in is part of your Christian and societal obligation, remember Christ came to keep the law and promote healthy living among the people,” he said

Ibezim said that Nigerians were under the grace of God which had sustained the people to celebrate Easter 2021, adding that 2020 Easter period was a nightmare for the people during Easter.

The Reporters recalls that the deadly virus was first reported in Wuhan district of China on December 31,2019 and in Nigeria, February 27,2020 respectively.

He recalled that the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc globally, especially from March,2020 and crippled Easter celebrations all over the world but nothing, however, that 2021 had a new history..

Ibezim said that the COVID-19 and other problems of humanity would be rolled away by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ, if only the people belief and abide by the word and law.

He said that the opportunity given to Nigerians to take part in the COVID-19 vaccine should not be toyed with but taken seriously and get themselves vaccinated.

Ibezim further urged Christians to make peace and any act that would bind the nation together their watch word to promote the essence of Christ’ death and resurrection to humanity.

The religious leader also called on the faithful to see the celebration of Easter as a time to appreciate each other despite religious or social status and engage in acts that promote oneness, peace and unity.

Ibezim, who is also the Bishop of Awka Diocese, enjoined Christians to give more to God, adding that many Christians who sought God’s presence often forget offering to God what belongs to Him.

He said that giving to God is beyond giving money, reminding christians that gifts such as soul winning and respect to constituted authority were more precious to God than money.

He said that Christian should offer their time and treasure to develop the society and propagate the word of God to make a better society.

“When God created you, he did so for a purpose. When you bring a gift to the church, you are bringing a gift to humanity,” he said.

Ibezim,who said that Christianity had failed to grow due to reluctance on part of Christians to take risk for the sake of God, advised priests to preach beautiful sermons to populate heaven.

He admonished Christians based on Easter Celebration themed, “Who Will Roll Away This Stone,” drawn from book of Mark, 16, to keep the ideas of God so as to enjoy His everlasting care and abundance, throughout their life time.
