The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has been urged faithful not to abandon the spiritual gains recorded during the holy month of Ramadan.
The apex Muslim body made the call on Friday in an Eid message jointly signed by its President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and the Executive Secretary, Professor Wole Abbas, as part of activities marking the end of the fasting period.
MUSWEN emphasized that Ramadan is not merely a seasonal act of worship but a spiritual training designed to instill discipline, self-restraint, and devotion that should endure throughout the year.
According to the group, the conclusion of fasting should not signal a return to old habits, but rather a continuation of the righteous deeds cultivated during the sacred month.
“The virtues of discipline, self-denial, generosity and intensified worship practiced during Ramadan are meant to serve as a lifelong guide for every believer,” the statement noted.
The organisation reminded Muslims that Allah, who was worshipped fervently during Ramadan, remains ever-present and continues to reward good deeds beyond the holy month.
It further urged the Muslim faithful to remain steadfast in acts of kindness, charity, and obedience to the teachings of Islam, stressing that true piety is reflected in consistent righteous living.
Beyond spiritual guidance, MUSWEN also turned attention to the state of the nation, calling on Muslims to sustain prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
The group expressed concern over prevailing socio-economic and security challenges, noting that collective prayers and responsible conduct by citizens remain vital to national development.
“As we celebrate this joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, let us remember that the God we served during Ramadan is ever alive to reward our deeds throughout the year,” the statement added.
MUSWEN concluded its message with prayers for the acceptance of the fast and supplications offered during Ramadan, while also seeking divine intervention for lasting peace, security, and economic prosperity in the country.
