The discussion in recent time has been so obvious, pointing to the continuous cases of flood disaster in some communities in Anambra state, especially Anambra West Local Government Area in Anambra North.

The frontline aspirant under the umbrella of PDP for Anambra Governorship 2021 ,Mr Godwin Ezeemo has this to say:

“I have watched with dismay how this particular disaster continues to gain momentum as years go by, and I am poised to ask; is there no way this flood disaster problem can be solved permanently?

“In the same light of my imagination, I have wondered if the state government did not find it as a whole pressing issue that demands urgent attention like every other issues in the state.

“Carefully, I am making a thorough research that would ultimately provide the final straw that will end this natural disaster which in some cases continue to gain stance due to poor response to it from the relevant authority.

“A look at my manifesto which I tagged PHASE³,it has environment as one of its core areas of concentration. By environment, this covers a profound look into all the erosion control mechanisms, a modern flood control mechanisms that will provide a high profile natural water ways to control water movement and drainage at such flood prone areas.

“It would be recalled that as far back as 2012 and 2014 respectively, I was the first individual to attend to the challenges of Anambra west victims of flood disasters. It is evident that I provided medicaments along with a team of Medical experts to help provide the much needed medical rehab among victims.

“It is still on record that I fostered the urgent intervention on the very need to creat and provide a good means for transportation of farm produce from the river line Communities of Amanasa, Igbokaeyi Community, all in Anambra west.

“I provided boats that solved the problem of moving farm produce across to the land areas that house the major market some years back and the boat is still serving the purpose till date.”

“The above is an insight that my Environment control scheme serves as the best flood control and intervention and proactiveness that will solve the problem of flooding and erosion in the state.”

“Sadly, this flood disaster has caused countless damages to the victims and the Community, destroying houses, properties, farms worth millions of naira which has contributed to food scarcity in the state and cause inflation to the available ones. This same flood disaster has cost some lives in the past and thus, the need for expert and urgent intervention to avoid future occurrence.”
