Residents of Lokoja,kogi state capital have commended the Federal Government for further reducing the pump price of fuel from N123 per litre to N121.50 Kobo for the same quality.
They gave the commendation in separate interview with Duaglobalnews, an online publication in lokoja on Monday.
A commercial driver, Mr Ayeni Ajayi and his counterparts; Messrs Jamiu Mohammed, Aliyu Mustapha and Okukayode Suleiman, described the action of the government as another another effort by the Buhari-led government to ease the economic effect of lockdown on the people.
“This latest reduction in the pump price of fuel by the government will go along way in bringing down the transportation fare in the country,”Mohammed said.
However, other residents who also spoke with the online outfit on the development, expressed dismay over the attitude of independent petroleum marketers whom they noted were still selling pump price of fuel at the old price before the latest reduction.
They called on the government to compel the independent filling stations to sell to the public in accordance with the new price of fuel.
“NNPC filling stations in the state must be commended for always adjust their pump to reflect price regime, we cannot pass the same comment for the independent filling stations.
“They always refuse to adjust their pumps to reflect the down trend in the price of fuel.
“Their action usually rob us of the dividend of price reduction in fuel,”Miss Agnes Oricha told our correspondent in lokoja.
Duaglobalnews recalls that Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA ) on Monday, announced the reduction of the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N121.50 from N123 per litre.
According to its guidelines, price for the month of June 2020, the ex-depot price band is now N100. 13 and N108. 13 per litre while ex-depot for collection is N108. 78 and N111.78 per litre.
