Kogi to pay workers’ salary before Sallah-Commissioner

Kogi State Government has promised to pay the salary of its workforce,on or before Eid el Fitri celebration.

The Commissioner of Finance, Asiwaju Idris Asiru, gave the promise while speaking with the State House of Assembly Correspondents on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Asiru noted that this was to enable the civil servants celebrate the end of the Ramadan fast.

“On or before the Eid el Fitri celebration, workers will be credited for their May Salary,” Asiru said.

The Commissioner, however, said despite the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the state economy, government had put machinery in place for the effective implementation of this year’s budget.

Asiru,who described the recent tribunal judgement decided in favour of the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as a victory for the masses, congratulated Bello for the well deserved victory.

Duaglobalnews recalls that the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in last Governorship election in the state, Barrister Natasha Akpoti, was at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja to challenge the election of Bello as the governor of the state

Asiwaju Idris expressed optimism that the Governor would win other petitions in no distance time.
