Kwara inaugurates LGA COVID-19 Technical Committees

Kwara State Government, in its effort to succeed in combating the Coronavrus scourge to logica end, has inaugurated Local Government Technical Committees for its 16 local government areas.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajia Aisha Ahman Pategi, disclosed this when she held meeting with the Directors of Personnel Management (DPM) of all the local government areas and members of the Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 in Ilorin.

Pategi reiterated the importance of setting up such Committees in line with the vision of the Governor, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to pioneer creative ideas and innovation by prioritizing the welfare of the citizens of the state.

According to her, the move will also bring awareness and coordination to the grassroots, through the ministry of local government directorate.

She commended the leadership of the Governor since the onset of the pandemic.

Contributing, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razak, described the move as historic, adding that it would assist in localizing the fight campaign against the pandemic disease and bring government efforts to reach the grass roots, where the most vulnerable resided a reality.

Duaglobalnews reports that the committees will work, based on a report template that will be structured into five work groups as follows:

1. Local Government Medical Advisory

2. Policy Enforcement, Ward and Protection

3. Public Education and Awareness/Media

4. Palliative/Grassroot Mobilization and Engagement

5. Economic and Agric Strategy for Identification/Sustainability of Economic Opportunities and Agricultural Sustainability for Food Production during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

Each local committee will work within the local government area and submit reports to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who will in turn process them and send to the state technical committee.

Pategi hinted that the next step of the team would be the setting up technical committee at the ward level.

” This will create structure and information flow from ward to LGA and then to the State and Federal level. With these steps, it is obvious that the Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq- led administration is setting pace and making history” she stressed.
