

,,,,3 Lawmakers Defect to APC

The Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area, Mr. Emmanuel Onuche, over alleged gross misconduct and actions said to have brought the image of the state into disrepute.
The suspension, announced during Wednesday’s plenary, directed Onuche to immediately hand over the leadership of the council to his Vice Chairman, Mrs. Victoria Okolo, pending the outcome of investigations.
According to the House, an effective investigation into the allegations against the chairman would not be possible while he remains in office.
To this end, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, constituted a five-member committee headed by Hon. Bode Ogunmola,to probe the allegations.
Other members of the committee include! Hon. Ishaya Omotayo Adeleye (Ijumu), Hon. Asema Baba Haruna (Adavi), Hon. Anthony Ujah (Olamaboro), and Hon. Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijani (Lokoja I), while Mr. Muhammed Bello will serve as the committee clerk.
The committee is expected to submit its report within one month.
Meanwhile, three members of the Assembly have announced their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors are Hon. Bode Ogunmola (Ogori/Magongo), formerly of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Hon. Idowu Ibikunle (Yagba East), formerly of the African Democratic Congress (ADC); and Hon. Sunday Daku (Bassa), who also defected from the PDP.
