Security was on Tuesday tightened in Adavi and Okene Local Government Areas of Kogi State as thousands of sympathizers thronged the communities for the burial of Alhaji Momohsani Ahmed Ododo, father of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Our correspondent in Okene, the local government headquarters, reports that security personnel were deployed in large numbers to monitor movements and ensure order as mourners poured into the towns.
Top government officials, traditional leaders, journalists, and residents were among those present at Oziokutu, Okene, and Upogoro,the last town being the governor’s hometown.
The remains of the late patriarch were being expected from Abuja,as at 10 a m, at the time of this report,for Islamic funeral prayers before interment.
Confirming the passage, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said the governor’s father died on Monday evening at the age of 83.
The Deputy Governor,Com.Joel Oyibo and other state top government function Aries arrived Okene about 11: 20 a.m for the occasion.
