The Idah Local Government Council in kogi state has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Prince Abdulkadir Kabba Aliyu Obaje, the son of the late Attah Igala, His Royal Majesty Dr. Aliyu Obaje.
In an official statement released by Comrade Bala Musa Eleojo, Special Adviser on Information, Communication, and Strategy to the Council Chairman, the late prince was reported to have died in Abuja on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, after a brief illness.
According to the statement, the remains of the late Prince will be transported to Idah and laid to rest, Thursday, June 19, in accordance with Islamic rites.
“It is with profound sadness that the Idah Local Government Council announces the sudden passing of Prince Abdulkadir Kabba Aliyu Obaje, son of Late Dr. Aliyu Obaje, the former Attah of Igala. He departed this life after a brief illness in Abuja,” the statement read.
The Executive Chairman of Idah Local Government Council, Alhaji Alfa Halilu, extended heartfelt condolences to the Obaje family, the Aju Aku Ruling Dynasty, the four ruling houses of the Igala Kingdom, the people of Idah, and Nigerians at large.
He described the late prince’s death as a painful loss, not only to his immediate family but also to the wider Igala nation and all those who held him in high regard.
“The council kindly requests prayers and support for the family during this difficult period,” the statement added.
Prince Abdulkadir Kabba Obaje was a member of the royal lineage that has long played a pivotal role in the traditional leadership of the Igala Kingdom.
His death marks the end of another significant chapter in the storied history of the royal house.
May his soul rest in peace, and may the Almighty Allah grant his family the strength to bear this great loss.
