AChieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South Senatorial District, Engineer Opeyemi Olabanji, has called on youths in the state to resist being drawn into early political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olabanji gave the cautionary statement on Thursday while hosting members of the APC youth wing from Irepodun Local Government Area (LGA) at his Ijan-Otun residence during their yuletide visit.

He warned against allowing politicians to exploit them prematurely for political gains.

The APC chieftain expressed concern that early politicking under the guise of activism could hinder the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is focused on delivering development-oriented programs.

“It is too early to discuss where the APC will zone its governorship candidate for the 2027 elections,” Olabanji said.

“The much-discussed ‘Kwara South for Kwara North’ zoning arrangement should not overshadow governance. Let us allow the administration to continue its work without distractions. The future is in God’s hands—anything can still happen, ”he added.

Olabanji urged the youths to avoid committing to any political arrangements prematurely, pointing out that the Governor, as the party’s leader in the state, had not endorsed any zoning formula. He encouraged them to stay committed to the party’s principles.

“Don’t pledge your support to any politician at this time. We still have two solid years before the elections. The Governor is focused on addressing the state’s challenges and delivering democratic dividends. Stay loyal to the party’s ideology,” he advised.

In response, Mr. Femi Alter expressed gratitude for the guidance, assuring that the youth wing would remain united and resist undue political influences. “Your advice will serve as our compass. We will build a strong and unshakable bloc, impervious to opportunistic politicians,” he affirmed.

Our correspondent reports that the gathering include Irepodun APC youth leaders led by LGA youth leader Mr. Femi Alter, along with representatives from all 11 wards: Oro 1, Oro 2, Ajase 1, Ajase 2, Esie/Ijan, Omu-Aran 1, Omu-Aran 2, Omu-Aran 3, Oko, Arandun, and Ipetu-Rore-Aran Orin.
