The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling security challenges and promoting sustainable peace in Ayetoro-Gbede and its environs.
Governor Ododo made this known while receiving a delegation from Ayetoro-Gbede, led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Adewunmi Sunday Ologe I, the Olu of Ayetoro-Gbede, during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The Governor disclosed that his administration would soon convene a strategic security meeting involving key stakeholders, traditional leaders, and business operators in the area to develop long-term measures aimed at strengthening peace and safety.
“I will meet with business owners operating around your region to discuss how we can make Ayetoro-Gbede a safer and more prosperous place for all.
“Security and development go hand in hand, and our goal is to create an environment where people can live and invest without fear,”Ododo said.
He commended the community for its show of goodwill and unity, noting that collaboration between government and local communities remains critical to achieving lasting peace.
Governor Ododo emphasized that traditional rulers have a vital role to play in maintaining peace and stability at the grassroots, pledging that his administration would continue to work closely with them to ensure the protection of lives and property.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, High Chief S.O. Arowosafe thanked the Governor for gracing the coronation ceremony and for appointing their son, Hon. Sunday Faleke, as Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.
“We are here to thank you on behalf of the good people of Ayetoro-Gbede. We appreciate your presence at the coronation of our revered monarch and your continued support for our community,”he said.
Earlier, Oba Adewunmi Sunday and other community leaders commended the Governor for his proactive steps in addressing insecurity and for his developmental interventions across the state.
“We appreciate you because you have done so much for us. We assure you of our loyalty and total support,” the royal father said.
He also appealed for the construction of a befitting palace for the Olu of Ayetoro-Gbede, the completion of the 10-kilometre Ayetoro-Gbede township road, and the rehabilitation of the community’s general hospital.
The traditional ruler assured the Governor of the community’s continuous loyalty and support in advancing the state’s progress.
The Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Sunday Faleke, thanked Governor Ododo for his dedication to peace and development in Kogi West Senatorial District, describing his approach as “practical, inclusive, and people-centered.”
