The relentless crackdown on criminal gangs in Nasarawa State has recorded another major success, as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force arrested a dreaded kidnap and robbery kingpin, Mohammed Bammi, popularly known as “Zomo”, along with five members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate.

According to the CP, the breakthrough came on Sunday, August 24, 2025, when operatives attached to the Doma Division tracked Zomo to Doka Forest in Doma Local Government Area.
He disclosed that the suspect, who had earlier escaped arrest during a police raid last month, attempted to resist capture with a knife but was swiftly overpowered by the officers, adding that upon interrogation, Zomo led detectives to the gang’s hideout in Alagye village, Doma, where the police recovered dangerous weapons and incriminating items.
The exhibits included:One pump-action rifle (Breech No. P331551),One locally made AK-47 rifle with magazine,Two live ammunition and five cartridges,One knife and a rope,
Two Tecno handsets,A pair of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) uniforms.
In a separate sting operation, operatives attached to the Awe Area Command, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Gidan Taku village, Wuse Chiefdom, Awe LGA, where they arrested five suspected members of a notorious 10-man kidnapping syndicate.
The suspects were identified as:
Michael Ato,Richard Ato,Alom Bernard,Hangior Ato.and Jacob Hunde a.k.a. Okocha.
Police investigations revealed that the syndicate was behind the recent kidnapping of one Blessing John of Gidan Makaranta village, Wuse while weapons recovered from them include two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and one live ammunition.
Further findings showed that the same gang had, in April 2024, abducted Blessing John’s husband, John Ada Kuje, from whom ransom was collected before his release.
The Commissioner of Police Commended the gallant officers for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the offensive against kidnappers and armed robbers until the state is rid of criminal elements.
All arrested suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
