The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB), Badagry,says it has recorded major successes in the fight against smuggling, human trafficking, and narcotics within its area of operation.
According to FOB,between July 18 and August 20, 2025, the Navy seized 823 bags of foreign parboiled rice, intercepted 13,965 litres of petrol, rescued eight human trafficking victims, and recovered 50 wraps of cannabis sativa during raids across Badagry–Porto Novo Creek, Tongeji, Akoro Beach, Owode-Apa, and Jegeme axis.
It added that two suspected traffickers, including a key syndicate facilitator, were arrested during the operations, adding that the rescued victims have been handed over to NAPTIP for rehabilitation, the seized rice transferred to the Nigeria Customs Service and the cannabis to the NDLEA.
The Commanding Officer, Navy Captain B. O. Omotayo, said the operations reflect the Chief of Naval Staff’s directive to strengthen maritime security and inter-agency collaboration.
“FOB Badagry will continue to work with security partners and local communities to rid our waters of illegal activities,” he assured.
