Dr. Ekundayo Samuel, a Kogi-born academic and lecturer at the University of Ibadan, has been re-elected President of the Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni Association Nigeria (COSFAN).
The re-election took place during the Association’s virtual Quarterly General Meeting held on Friday.
Dr.Samuel, who lectures in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, was returned for a second term based on his commendable performance and impactful leadership during his first tenure.
Administered by Barrister Titilope Adeyemi, the inauguration also welcomed other newly elected members of the National Executive Committee.
The new leadership team will serve a two-year term, renewable once.
Dr. Samuel, who also serves as Executive Director of the Dove-Haven Foundation (DHF), pledged,in his inaugural address, to deepen collaboration with the British Council Nigeria and the Nigerian government to sustain mentorship and development initiatives.
He emphasized empowering COSFAN members to become change agents in their respective fields and communities, aligning their efforts with national development goals.
Dr. Samuel called on all tiers of government, as well as national and international organizations, MDAs, and institutions, to partner with COSFAN and tap into its network of skilled professionals for quality service delivery.
He expressed gratitude to the Association’s esteemed Patron, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR, and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife,for their unwavering support and encouragement.

The position of Treasurer: goes to Dr. Oluwatosin Igbayiloye, Lecturer, University of Ilorin,Publicity Secretary: Engr. Adewale Adeniyi, Project Manager, Pivot-GIS, Lagos
Regional Coordinators representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones were also elected:

Our correspondent reports that COSFAN is a non-profit association comprising Nigerian beneficiaries of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
With over 3,000 Nigerians having received these prestigious awards, the Association is committed to leveraging its members’ expertise to drive societal progress—particularly in education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
