The Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun, Dr. David Oyedepo, on Friday, issued a stern warning to newly matriculated students, cautioning them against engaging in any form of examination malpractice.
Delivering his address at the university’s 23rd matriculation ceremony, Dr. Oyedepo stressed that the institution considered exam malpractice a grave offense.
He emphasized that any student caught engaging in such misconduct would automatically lose his or her place at the university.
“The university believes that achieving success in life requires discipline and hard work,no one can reach a future they aren’t prepared for,”Oyedepo said.
According to the Chancellor,Covenant University equips its students with core values, such as spirituality, integrity, responsibility, diligence, and sacrifice.
These principles, he added, are what make Covenant graduates among the most employable in the country.
Dr. Oyedepo reiterated the university’s commitment to nurturing leaders through a comprehensive education grounded in Biblical principles, emphasizing that the institution aims to raise a generation of impactful, responsible leaders.
In his address of welcome, the Vice-Chancellor of the university,Prof. Timothy Anake, described Covenant University as not just a place of learning but a transformative environment that shapes students’ potential.
He emphasized that the university is committed to a holistic education that nurtures both academic growth and character development.
“At Covenant University, we are dedicated to developing the ‘total man’,” Prof. Anake said, pointing out that the university’s focus extends beyond academics to the moral and personal growth of its students.
The Vice-Chancellor noted the university’s national and international recognition, affirming that Covenant University had become a leading institution of higher learning in Nigeria.
The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the incoming students, who were welcomed into what the university proudly describes as Nigeria’s most esteemed higher education institution.
Our correspondent reports that 2,449 undergraduates and postgraduates from the university’s four colleges and 31 programmes, including those enrolled in open and distance learning platforms, were matriculated for the 2024/2025 academic session.
