(II).
Giving the very importance of the genuine and desired roles women are expected to play in any giving society, Islam in its ever noble ethics and consideration gives women the widest opportunity and freedom to play their roles in complementing and contributing to the roles men play in the overall development and progress of the community, society and the nation. Islam allows the full exploitation of their talents and potentials to be utilized as a mark of not only their recognition but great contribution to the building of an ideal society. Their ALLAH -Given potentials as mothers, wives and daughters cannot be overlooked or neglected or abused or negatively exploited to their disadvantage.
It can be vividly seen, that, the system of human world is sharply divided into two significant components, each of equal importance. One is represented by the “home” while the other or second by the “office”. As the office in this context is recognized as the centre of activity devoid of being confined to the four walls, equally, the home which is not marked by a boundary is also considered to be a complete centre of activity too.
In this example, man has been assigned to the “office” so that he may successfully use his talents and potentials to fully manage all affairs that are quite external to the home. Similarly, the woman has been put in charge of the “home” so that she may maximize her talents and potentials to successfully manage all domestic affairs which remain internal well within the home. In fact, both these assigned responsibilities and duties are of equal importance, without each being either superior or inferior. This Divinely Ordained Principle and System has for thousands of years worked on earth as provided for by Islam without any conflict of interest but each operating on its own axis within the areas of their jurisdiction.
It is sad to note, that, in pursuit of unnatural freedom, the western woman has woefully failed to find her real position in the Divinely Ordained Natural Scheme of things. Also, the Muslim woman in the present day Muslim society has been largely denied the rights that Islam has accorded her with. Unfortunately, in some circumstances, she becomes a victim of a man’s maltreatment or denied shares in her father’s or mother’s or husband’s properties etc.The cause of this may be attributed to the Muslims lagging far behind in education. Having acquired sufficient level of education may lead to the beginning of new Islamic life. Striving to achieve this desired goal of literacy will enhance the overall reformation of Muslims. This will practically and intellectually make the Muslims to become a well developed community.
By their positive roles, manifesting from the full utilization of their talents and potentials particularly in the areas of sound and positive education, Muslim women can play greater roles in the areas of nurturing and educating the children at home. This is in line with the Prophet’s saying in which he Sall-Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said:
“The first school of every child is the lap of the mother”. Again, he Sall-Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said:
“……Educate a woman you educate a nation”.
Her ability to read to her young children and the best examples she sets in her quest for seeking knowledge form the most powerful stimuli in their educational progress and future development. Fortunately, they are gifted in the teaching profession than the men. For them, this will serve as a positive extension of the home, broadening the practical activity centred on child upbringing as assigned by the Divine Rule.
In the cause of playing their important positive roles in any given society or community or nation, it is certain that, Muslim women can prepare the next good generation which today is the most desired of our time. This largely encourages them to equip the entire generation with standard education. It will give the children the opportunity to acquire higher education with the desired discipline of Islamic ethics and norms having the Islamic consciousness, commitment and resilience.
May Almighty ALLAH Continue to Bless the Muslim women with the zeal to train our children and equip them with the best standard of Islamic discipline in all ramifications, ameen thumma ameen, thanks.
