KGIRS launches first news letter, boss promises human face tax administration

Kogi State Internal Revenue on Friday boosted the print media space in the state by launching its first in-house news letter in Lokoja.

Launching the 32-page news letter at the headquarters of the Service,
the Acting Executive Chairman of the service, Alhaji Sule Saliu Enehe, said the document would help in educating the public about the activities of the Service.

He described tax collection as complex and in the past, misconstrued by the people but expressed the hope that the news letter would also englighten the public about the imperative of tax collection and its usage for the good of the state and its citizens.

According to Enehe,the in-house publication will also bring to the awareness of the tax payers how the state government is using their tax money to bring dividends of democracy to the people,through infrastructure development and other efforts.

He also expressed optimism that the document would boost the efforts of the Service in fulfilling its statotury responsibility for better understanding and appreciation.

According to him, “KGIRS News Letter” would also go along way in helping the Service to engage the tax payer community in a constructive dialogue to boost the desired progress in tax collection and administration.

Enehe,who promised that the publication of the in-house publication would be a continuous process, expressed the determination of KGIRS to pursue tax administration with “human face”.

Fielding question from Journalists at the occasion, Enehe disclosed that the face-off between the Service and Glo telecommunication company had been resolved.

Earlier in their speeches,the Chief Editor of the news letter, Mohammed Bello and the Editor, Muhammad M. Idris, described the document as a master piece that chronicled the activities of the Service for public consumption and boost the image of the Service.

The duo,who expressed the delight that the content of the news letter cut across various social, economic, energy and tax related activities, thanked the acting executive chairman and other stakeholders in the production of the documents for the eventual birth of the document.

Mr Mike Abu, who spoke on behalf of the Journalists that attended the occasion, commended the acting executive chairman and his management for the great strides the Service recorded for the past seven months that he came on board as the boss.

He described the news letter as a legacy document that would speak good of the Service to the people of the state and the world at large, now and years ahead.

Members of the management and staff of the Service attended the occasion.
