2023:Political Parties Hold Primaries April 2022—INEC

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has announced April 2022 as date for all political parties to conduct their primaries ahead of the general elections fixed for February 25, 2023.

A timetable made available to Journalists at a news conference in Abuja, directed all political parties to conduct party primaries and resolve all disputes arising from the primaries between April 4 to June 3, 2022.

According to INEC, the submission of nomination forms by political parties is scheduled as follows:

(1) Presidential and National Assembly: 10th June to 17th June 2022 and

(2) Governorship and State Assemblies: 1st July to 15th July 2022.

Our checks revealed that already, Aspirants have begun to criss cross the country for consultations and mobilise groups in readiness for the Primaries.
