The Nigerian telecommunications sector has taken another step towards stronger regional collaboration as the Nigerian Communications Commission,NCC, hosted a high-level delegation from Cameroon’s Telecommunications Regulatory Board in Abuja for a strategic benchmarking and knowledge-sharing engagement.
The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr Aminu Maida received the delegation at the commission’s headquarters,led by the Director General of ART Cameroon, Philemon Zoo Zame.
Our correspondent gathered that the visit formed part of ongoing efforts by African telecommunications regulators to strengthen cooperation, improve regulatory frameworks, and accelerate digital transformation across the continent.
During the engagement, officials from both countries exchanged ideas and experiences on critical issues shaping the telecommunications industry, including spectrum management, consumer protection, infrastructure expansion, emerging technologies, and policies aimed at improving service delivery.
They also focused on strategies for deepening digital connectivity and enhancing telecommunications governance in the West and Central African sub-region amid rising demand for reliable digital services.
Industry observers say the benchmarking exercise reflects a growing commitment among African regulators to foster innovation, encourage investment in ICT infrastructure, and promote seamless regional integration in the rapidly evolving telecoms landscape.
The collaboration is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while supporting broader continental efforts toward building an inclusive and digitally connected Africa.
