The National Coordinator,Odua Progressive Care Initiative (OPCI), a Yoruba socio cultural group, Dr, Maruf Olanrewaju, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to carry traditional ruler along in finding lasting solution to the increasing insecurity in the country.

Dr Maru gave advice at the weekend the while speaking with journalists in Ilorin.

“If we want effective security system in Nigeria, we must go back to the drawing board, all traditional leaders in various communities across the country must be carried along. They are the grassroots leaders with adequate knowledge of their communities.

“Also, some organisations with reasonable numbers of members should as well be carried along, government must give them certain assignment to do.

“It is unfortunate that we find ourselves in this kind of security mess in this country,” he said.

The National Coordinator who noted that insecurity was not perculiar to the present administration in the country, however, described the present insecurity in the country as “pathetic.”

Maruf recalled that insecurity was peculiar to North/East alone, where Bokoharam insurgents were operating days and nights, “but now, we see bandits, herdsmen across every part of the country.

According to him, insecurity is largely responsible for the economy hardship facing the country, adding that many farmers could no longer go to farm, adding that because of herdsmen, many business people could no longer embark on trip because of kidnappers.
