Muhammed Yusuf(21), described as a secondary school certificate holder and a drug addict on Wednesday, allegedly beat his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, to dead in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

The reason for Yusuf’s alleged henious crime against his biological father remained unclear as at the time of this report on Thursday.

Sources, however, said that in spite the suspect’slate father’s bid to train him beyond secondary school level,he refused to further his education.

A neigbour, Nana Bello, who gave clue to what could have happened said that the suspect had been involved in unruly behaviour to his late father lately but that the deceased did not yield to calls for the arrest of the suspect.

Explaining further, she described herself as neighbour to the suspect within the vicinity St. Mary Primary School, Lokoja, adding that upon her return home from office 10 p.m on Wednesday, she knocked on the gate of her apartment, hoping that Alhaji Yusuf would open the gate but this was not to be.

She added that instead, it was the suspect who was inside the deceased’s room that answered her, telling that her his father was not around.

“I asked him, where has baba being? And I know that baba does not go out when it is six o’clock ,as he always lock his door.

“When I came in I saw him in baba’s room, and baba doesn’t normally allow him to enter his room.

” I immediately called my fiancee, telling him that this boy has killed his father, because what was he doing in baba’s room when according to him, baba was not around.

“My fiancee then called Baba’s telephone number but it was switched off. I now went to the Police station to lodge complain and we came with officers to arrest him.

“When we entered Baba’s room,we saw him in a pool of his blood still breathing and we rushed him to the hospital only to learn that baba died this morning.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state, DSP William Aya, confirmed the event but added that he had not got the details of the matter.

Meanwhile, the suspect is said to be in police net in Lokoja.
