Governorship campaign posters of the suspended Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission, Mr Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, is floating Kano,the second most populated state of the nation.
Some of the posters cited by our correspondent in various locations, including public places, major roads and bridges, showed pictures of Rimingado indicating his bid to contest for the coveted governorship seat of Kano State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
Besides, commercial tricyclists , popularly known as “a daidaita sahu” or “keke NAPEP”, are adorning their vehicles with Rimingado’s campaign stickers, posters and banners. Ditto for traders and menial artisans.
The Reporters recalls that Rimingado was suspended from office,about three months ago, by Governor Umar Ganduje on the recommendation of the State House of Assembly for refusing to accept the posting of an accountant from the office of the Accountant General of the state to his office.
But Rimingado had earlier explained that the laws establishing the Commission did not permit it to accept staff deployed from elsewhere, quoting Sections 8, 15 and 17 of the PCACC 2008 (as amended) to buttress his claim.
The provisions of :the law deals with issues of Administration, Staff Recruitment and Discipline, Operations and Financial Management.
The government asked him to vacate office for one month to allow for unhindered investigation and appointed an acting chairman within a week of his suspension.
Meanwhile, more than two months down the line, the government is yet to release the outcome of its findings, conducted by the House of Assembly and the Police and has not recalled, reinstated or announced Rimingado’s sack.
Some observers expressed opinion that the delay in pronouncing Rimingado’s fate as the chief executive of the antigraft agency might have emboldened his supporters to encourage him to contest for the governorship post.
