The stand of the Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state on serious national issues has been very outstanding while his stand against a second lockdown, owing to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, has saved Nigeria from another recession.
Archbishop Dr. Peter Ogareki, made the remarks when he led some Bishops on a prayer mission to Lokoja and called on the governor at the Government House, Lokoja.
The leader of the Bishops said they were in the state to pray for the Governor and the people of the state for God’s protection.
Bishop Ogareki, who promised Bello that the group would support him in prayers for the 2023 presidency, noted that the country required “a focused, determined, result oriented and a detrabalized leader in 2023.”
Receiving the Bishops, the Governor said that youths, women, political leaders from different political parties had been mounting pressure on him to run for the presidency in 2023.
“But all I can say is that, the issue of who will be the next president of Nigeria is in the hands of Almighty God. My becoming Governor was devine. I am a strong believer in God. Let’s pray that God will choose the next president for Nigeria.
“God is going to show us the way to follow in the days ahead. We pray that God will give us a good leader in 2023, who will build on the legacy of president Muhammodu Buhari,” Bello said.
