Isanlu robbery : IGP orders full scale man-hunt for perpetrators

The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered a full-scale manhunt for the perpetrators of the attack on Isanlu Police station and a commercial bank in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police( DCP) Frank Mba,who is also the Public Relations Officer(PRO) for the Force Headquarters, Abuja disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to him, the IGP has deployed a team of crack detectives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), the Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Federal-SARS to Kogi State to ensure that the criminals are apprehended and brought to book.

Mba also said that the IGP had directed the AIG of Police in charge of Zone-8 Police Headquarters, Lokoja, Yunana Babas, to immediately assess and review the security arrangement in Kogi State and its environs.

This, he said, became necessary in oder to prevent any future occurrence of such “untoward incident in the state.”

Duaglobalnews recalls that the Police Command in the state, through its Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya, confirmed the loss of 8 police officers during the robbery attack on First Bank branch in Isanlu on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, has called on the public to “sharpen their power of observation and report any suspicious movement or characters within and around Isanlu area to the police or the nearest security agencies.”

Ekpeji, who made the call through Aya, stated that the special team deployed to Isanlu would work in synergy with other security agencies to comb the area with the view of arresting the culprits.

The police commissioner reassured residents of the of their safety among measures to check crime in the state.
