The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology has taken a tough stand against what it described as rising misconduct among students, expelling four undergraduates, including two female students accused of engaging in lesbianism.
Our correspondent gathered that the disciplinary action, which has stirred conversations within and outside the university community, followed the outcome of investigations by the institution’s Students’ Disciplinary Committee, whose report was adopted at the Senate’s 30th Regular Meeting held on April 29, 2026.
University authorities said the sanctions were part of efforts to preserve discipline, morality, and a safe learning environment on campus.
The institution stressed that students must shun acts capable of destroying their future, reputation, and academic aspirations.
Observers say the development serves as a strong warning to young people against indulging in behaviours considered contrary to the rules and values of educational institutions, urging students to focus on their studies, personal growth, and responsible conduct rather than activities that could attract sanctions and public embarrassment.
According to separate letters signed by the Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, Mr. Eli Usman Gbadafu, the affected students were sanctioned for offences ranging from lesbianism and physical assault to stabbing and cyber-related misconduct.
The university gave the names of students expelled, for alleged lesbianism,as Ezekiel Precious Omeneke, a 200-level Economics student, and Aku Joy Chinyere, a 200-level Accounting student.
Also expelled was Musa Abdulhakeem Onimisi, a 200-level Petroleum and Gas Engineering student, over alleged physical assault and stabbing of another student.
Another student, Dominion Kolade A., a 200-level Physiotherapy student, was expelled for cloning and circulating pictures of two female students without their consent.
In a related development, Agbakaru Kosikochukwu, a 200-level Radiography student, was rusticated for one academic session over fighting and physical assault.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof.Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, commended members of the disciplinary committee for what he described as a thorough and fair investigation.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing graduates distinguished not only by academic excellence but also by sound character and discipline.
The university maintained that it would continue to uphold its regulations and take decisive action against any conduct capable of threatening the welfare, safety, and moral standards of the institution.
The Reporters recalls that about a week ago,the university also expelled eight students for their involvement in examination malpractice.
The institution said the students were subjected to a thorough investigation by the Examination Misconduct Committee, whose findings were subsequently reviewed and ratified by the University Senate, according to a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr. Eli Gbadufu.
CUSTEC said the affected students were found guilty of examination misconduct during the First Semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.
