The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Asiru Ijagbemi, father of the Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, who died on Sunday at the age of 95.

In his condolence message to the bereaved family, signed by Ismaila Isah,Special Adviser on Media, the Governor Ododo noted that the late Alhaji Ijagbemi lived a fulfilled life and left behind enduring legacies that will continue to be remembered by his family and community.

“Alhaji Asiru Ijagbemi was a man of rare virtue who lived a life of fulfilment, honour and piety. His passing is not only a grievous loss to his immediate household, but also to the entire people Yagba East and indeed, to the entire Kogi State,” the Governor said.

The Governor noted that only a few weeks ago he lost his own father and a priceless friend and as such, he knows what it truly means to lose a father at this time, stressing that while the pain is immeasurable, the comfort lies in the enduring legacy left behind by the late patriarch of the Asiru family.

He also recalled how he was warmly received and the prayers for him by the late Pa Asiru during his stopover at the family home of Hon. Idris Asiru on his way to Isanlu for a political engagement recently.

He further affirmed that the sterling qualities of honesty and selfless service which the late patriach personified are evident in the worthy contributions of his children to the advancement of Kogi State, particularly through the meritorious service of the Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.

The Governor prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the departed, grant him eternal rest in Aljanat Firdaus, and bestow upon the family the fortitude to endure the irreparable loss.
