By Dada Ahmed, Lokoja.

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association, Kogi State Branch, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hajiya Maimunat (Auta) Shehu Yabagi, mother of one of its members, Abubakar Tanko Ibrahim Yabagi.

This was contained in a condolence message sent to the bereaved family, signed by the Chairman of the branch, Engr. Mohammed Abdulsalam Sagir, in Lokoja on Wednesday, a copy of which was made available to The Reporters.

He said the deceased was also an aunt to Dr. Abdulsalam Bawa Dangana and several other ABU Zaria alumni, including Comptroller Abdulmajeed Ibrahim Yabagi (NIS), one of the association’s recent awardees.

The association noted that the passing of Hajiya Maimunat Yabagi is not only a loss to the Yabagi family but also to the wider ABU community, given her motherly role to many alumni members.

He added that the late Hajiya Yabagi was laid to rest on Saturday in Lokoja, Kogi State, according to Islamic rites.

The Chairman commiserated with the Yabagi family over the loss, describing the deceased as a devoted mother, community pillar, and a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

Engr. Sagir prayed for the repose of her soul and for Allah to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“May Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljannat Firdaus, and comfort those she left behind,” he further prayed.

Our correspondent reports that all is now set for a delegation of of the association to visit the bereaved family at Cantonment Quarters, Ward ‘B’, Lokoja, to register its condolences.
