,,,,,Reaffirms Commitment to Workers’ Welfare

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the state, declaring that salaries and other entitlements are rights,not privileges.
“Your salary is your right, not a privilege. We are here to serve,” the Governor stated while receiving leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Lokoja.
Governor Ododo emphasized that paying salaries and prioritizing the welfare of workers are not acts of benevolence but obligations of responsible governance.
He reaffirmed his resolve to uphold the dignity of labour and build a public service where civil servants can thrive.
The visit, which brought together top representatives of the organised labour unions, was to express appreciation to the Governor for what they described as his remarkable commitment to fulfilling promises made to workers.
Speaking on behalf of the organized labour, NLC leader Amari Gabriel commended Governor Ododo for the prompt implementation of the national minimum wage, regular and timely payment of salaries, disbursement of leave bonuses, and the extension of health insurance coverage to pensioners.
The NLC also lauded the Governor’s support for infrastructural development at the Labour House, citing the provision of a functional borehole, a dedicated 33kva electricity line, and a new transformer, all geared towards improving the work environment for union activities.
In a similar vein, the leadership of NULGE, led by Mohammed Sanusi, praised the Governor for his unwavering support to local government workers.
They highlighted the full implementation of the minimum wage and consistent 100% salary payments at the grassroots level, describing the achievement as unprecedented in the state’s history.
The labour leaders, according to Government House Media Team, presented symbolic gifts to Governor Ododo and offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and continued success in steering the affairs of the state.
