The Governor of kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the appointment of a new ODEYANI ANEBIRA OF LOKOJA, Alhaji Abdulkarim Obeto.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaicy Affairs,Barr.Salami Momodu Ozigi Deedat, disclosed this in a statement he signed in Lokoja on September 12,2025, adding that the appointment takes effect from February 11,2025.
Our correspondent reports that the new Odeyani Anegbira of Lokoja received his appointment letter on September 13,2025 at the state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaicy Affairs, Lokoja.
The new Odeyani Anegbira of Lokoja succeeds the late Odeyani Anegbira of Lokoja, Alhaji Otonoku Mayaki who died about a year ago in Lokoja at 125 years.
Many Egbiras in Lokoja while reacting to the development, described it as the right thing in the right direction.
Mal. Haruna Onukaba said:”It’s a well deserved and meritorious appointment.
“He is a man with versatile knowledge, he is a historian who has over the years stook firmly for any issue concern Anebira.
“May the Almighty God grant him all he deserves to discharge his responsibilities and duties effectively and efficiently well in the interest of Ebbira people in Lokoja and beyond.”
