Professor Adamu Ahmed has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, replacing Professor Kabir Bala.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Malam Auwalu Umar, following the 209th (Special) Council meeting, which was chaired by Mahmud Yayale Ahmed.

Professor Ahmed, a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, previously served as the Director of the Directorate of University Advancement. He is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kano.

The appointment has been met with enthusiasm by university stakeholders, who commend his extensive experience in academia and administration.

A source close to the university remarked, “Professor Ahmed is a perfect fit for the role. He has the experience, expertise, and passion to lead ABU to new heights.”
