The Centre Leader, Covenant Applied Informatics and Communication African Centre of Excellence (CApIC-ACE), Prof. Emeka Iweala,has called for increased collaboration between the federal government and relevant stakeholders to work towards a cancer-free world.
The professor who made the call on Tuesday in his address commemorating World Cancer Day in Ota, Ogun.state,reaffirmed the organization’s commitment and dedication to advancing cancer research, innovation, and raising awareness in the global fight against cancer.
Iweala noted with concern, the devastating impact of cancer on individuals, families, and communities worldwide.
“On this World Cancer Day, we reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting cancer research, fostering innovation, and promoting cancer awareness and education,” Iweala stated.
He emphasized that CApIC-ACE stands in solidarity with global efforts to promote education, raise awareness, and drive action against cancer.
He also commended the determination of cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who have consistently worked to provide care and solutions to those affected by the disease.
The CApIC-ACE leader further noted that the centre’s research, particularly in genomics, is playing a significant role in advancing cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Our correspondent reports that the event, marked annually on February 4, serves as a global platform for raising awareness about cancer.
According to medical experts,cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue.
