Prof.Abiodun Musa Aibinu
Chief Executive and Academic Officer, Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, invites the general public to an exciting event.

In a statement he signed and made a copy to The Reporters on Friday,he wrote.

“I would like to personally invite you to an exciting online event that promises to ignite your interest and broaden your perspective. As part of The Miva Academic Discourse Series, today, 24th January 2025, I will be delivering a talk titled Bridging the Gap: Connecting Academic Research to Society. This session will delve into the pivotal role of research in addressing society’s challenges and the importance of making it more accessible and relevant to the public.

As the speaker, I will explore how academic research, when effectively connected to communities, can drive transformative impacts on pressing issues such as public health, education, and climate change. I will also address the limitations of the widely adopted Triple Helix model (academia, industry, and government) and introduce the Quadruple Helix model, which integrates society as a vital stakeholder in research and innovation.

Additionally, I will discuss practical strategies to make academic outputs more accessible by simplifying language and translating findings into culturally relevant and relatable formats. This approach is particularly crucial in countries like Nigeria, where effective communication can sometimes be hindered by linguistic and cultural barriers.

Lastly, I will share real-world examples of how we are implementing these principles at Summit University, Offa, Nigeria. Our research focuses on critical areas, including clean energy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), environmental literacy, and empowering females with skills in emerging technologies and STEM. These initiatives aim to demonstrate how research can serve as a powerful tool for societal transformation.

By attending this session, you will gain invaluable insights into how research can drive real-world solutions and how we can ensure that it directly benefits the communities most in need. Whether you are a researcher, student, policymaker, or community member, this event is designed to equip you with actionable ideas and strategies for bridging the gap between academia and society.

The session will be interactive, offering you an opportunity to share your thoughts and ask questions during the Q&A. I am truly excited about the enriching conversation we will have and the chance to collectively explore ways to connect research to societal progress.
