WIA Partners Liberty Hub International to Boost Women’s Farming in Kogi.

Women in Agriculture (WIA) has partnered with Liberty Hub International to increase female participation in farming and improve food security and production in Kogi State.

Dr. Esther Audu, National President of WIA, disclosed the the partnership during a congratulatory visit to Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuff, the new Director General of Radio Kogi, at her office in Lokoja.

Dr. Audu explained that WIA has captured women farmers across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State. This effort ,she added,is aimed at maximizing the benefits of the new partnership.

She said that the name of the organization notwithstanding, men are also encouraged to join in outfit.

She noted that financial constraints have been a major challenge for women farmers in the state. To address this, Liberty Hub International will provide support for land clearing, seedlings, and monthly stipends for farm maintenance. Additionally, a microfinance organization will manage the financial aspects of the program to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

Dr. Audu requested the Director General’s support in publicizing the initiative to ensure its success and broader acceptance.

She also congratulated Princess Yussuff on her appointment and expressed confidence in her capacity to ensure a productive tenure.

Dr. Audu further revealed that Liberty Hub International would help in clearing land, provide seedlings and facilitate the direct purchase of farm produce from women farmers, eliminating intermediaries and encouraging increased agricultural production.

Responding, the Director General assured Dr. Audu of Radio Kogi’s cooperation in promoting the initiative and suggested involving the Agricultural Development Project in the state to enhance the program’s impact.

In the entourage of the national president are: Alhaji Damisa Suleiman, Director of Information at the Women in Agriculture Cooperative Federation; Aliyu Osheiza Yussuff, State Organizing Secretary; and other attendees.
