Vice President Kashim Shettima conducted a one-day visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, where he unveiled a federal government initiative to provide N3 billion in support to each of the states affected by flooding and insecurity.
During his visit, Shettima assessed the damage caused by armed bandit attacks and revealed that the N3 billion allocation would be distributed to states grappling with these crises, including Borno, Sokoto, Niger, Bayelsa, and Jigawa.
“This visit serves as a symbolic gesture and an assessment tour. I want to reassure the people of Niger State that the President is committed to helping all states affected by flooding and security challenges,” Shettima stated.
He emphasized that the federal government will approach the relief efforts with a scientific and thorough assessment, ensuring that deserving states receive the necessary support. The Vice President stressed that the focus is on governance and improving the living conditions of Nigerians, rather than political interests.
Accompanied by the Minister of Information Muhammed Idris Malagi, Minister of State for Agriculture Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Director General of NEMA, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, Shettima said the federal government’s ongoing commitment would address Nigeria’s infrastructural deficits.
He acknowledged the vast needs across the country and assured that the government is working diligently to address poor infrastructure and support the people. Shettima called for continued support from all Nigerians to achieve the desired outcomes.
