FG will introduce technology of 80 years duration to construct roads in Nigeria.

The Federal Government says it is introducing robust concrete road technology with higher durability of more than 80 years of optimal usage with zero maintenance.

The Minister of Works ,Engr. David Umahi, disclosed this on Sunday in Lokoja, Kogi State when he visited the state on projects assessment
and inspection.

Umahi,who briefed newsmen on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s directives to carry out the road assessment from Owelle in Enugu State to Abuja, said the directive was to enable him understand the conditions of the road, especially with the approaching of raining season.

At Ganaja site,the minister who demonstrated the Ganaja road remedial work of one kilometer of both sides for the concrete carriage way,added that the federal would takeover from where the work stopped.

Explaining that concrete road project is government’s agreement with contractors,especially on the dual carriage way from Lokoja to Benin, he also said that flyover construction on Kabba road had been approved,assuring that work would commence immediately.

He said ,” This is a yearly road assessment .There are seven different road projects on Lokoja – Abuja road, two are old projects and five are new road projects. All the new roads will be on concrete roads,” reiterated that within one to two weeks, the project would take off.

Our correspondent recalls that President Tinubu recently approved about 60 kilometers of concrete road on lokoja – Abuja road.

During the inspection routine, the Minister commended the contractors where necessary; made critical observations; advised amendments in some places with the aim of ensuring the projects meet the desired standards

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by his deputy, Comr. Joel Salifu Oyibo, commended the painstaking tours and review of roads by the minister of Works for first-hand professional need assessment in line with President Tinubu’s government policies.
