The Dangote Cement, Gboko plant in Benue State has donated foodstuff and other essential materials to different vulnerable in its host community in the state.
The donations were part of the company’s weeklong activities for its annual Sustainability Week to mark the year 2023.
The company visited the NKST Christian missionary orphanage at Mkar, Gboko LGA and the Juvenile correctional center at Ubangaji, also in Gboko to make the donations.
Earlier, the host community of the Dangote Cement expressed excitement over the medical outreach brought to their door step.
Traditional head of the community, Tyoor Ukpekpe His Royal Highness, Igba Tsegba, who expressed appreciation to the company on behalf of his people also appealed for a hospital to cater for the health needs of the people.
Tsegba spoke at the LGEA (Local Government Educational Area) Primary School Amua, during the Medical outreach organised by the company as part of activities to mark the sustainability week.
He hailed the intervention but however appealed for “a permanent health facility for the people instead of the one day yearly medical outreach.”
The royal father who was represented by the Kindred Head of Mbagar, Zaki Tese Kpough, further appealed to the company to consider employing youths of the community, many whom he said were still idle several years after leaving school.
Responding, the Head of Administration and Management of the Dangote Cement, Gboko plant, Jonathan Kunde, said that the company was not unaware of the prevailing economic crunch and it was its own way of lending a helping hand.
Kunde noted that the company had made it a deliberate policy to reach out to the most vulnerable in the community like women, children and the aged in its annual free medical care.
On his part, Plant Director, Louise Raj, assured the people that the company would look into their demands.
