Wedding:Islamic cleric preaches religious harmony, obedience to marital vow

An Islamic scholar, UstazTijani Abdulazeez, has urged adherents of the two predominant religions in Nigeria; Islam and Christianity, to imbibe the spirit of religious harmony,in the interest of peace and development of the country.

The religious leader gave the advice on Saturday in his sermon at the reception to mark the wedding between Abdulazeez and Zeenat in Lokoja.

He identified religious intolerance between many of the adherents of the two religions in the country as one of the factors responsible for lack of peace in Nigeria today.

“You are not yet a Muslim until you wish for others, what you wish for yourself, irrespective of religious inclination,” he told muslims.

On the new new couple, the Ustaz advised them to adhere strictly to marital obligations as enshrined in the Holy Quran, which centres on mutual love, caring, respect and getting closer to Allah in prayers and other deeds.

For the husband,he said” The welfare of ur wife should be your absolute priority ,if your wife is receiving more than you,it is not your business, you are are to cater for her welfare according to Islamic injunction.

To the wife,Ustaz Abdulazeez said,” Always respect and obey your husband as the head of the family and respect your father in law according to Islamic injunction.

“The road in life may not be smooth, your husband may be having problem,try and invoke Allah’s name, surely He will answer your prayer.”

He also urged the couple to give absolute regard to their fathers and mothers in law in accordance with the injunction of Islam.

Ustaz Abdulazeez praised for the success of the marriage.

Our Correspondent reports that highlight at the occasion, attended by people from far and wide, including neighbouring Kwara state, were hot dancing steps by the new couple to melodious modern and the rich traditional music and supported by their parents,well wishes.

 

The well attended event also witnessed the cutting of cake to herald the marriage, coupled with enough food to eat and take away.
