An aspirant eyeing the Senatorial seat of the Kogi State Senatorial district,Hon.Moses Najim Lawal, has commended the President, Muhammadu Buhari, for consenting to the voice of wisdom by assenting to the reworked Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.

Lawal gave the commendation in a statement from his media office in Okene, a copy of which was at the disposal of The Reporters in Lokoja on Saturday.
According to him, the signing of the bill into law is one of the outstanding legacies President Buhari will be remembered for after leaving the office.
” For we, members of the political class in Nigeria, we have been yearning for the signing the bill in to law by the President and his wisdom in assenting to the bill has endeared him to more people in view of the importance of the law to ensuring credible election and political stability in the country.
“First and more most, the new law will check vote rigging, money politics,godfatherism and other anomalies that has dimmed the credibility of election results in the country.
Hon. Lawal promised to offer his vast experience in human development and other areas of social economic and political process credible representation of the district in the National Assembly in the position being envisaged.
He called on the people of his district to consider people with sterling qualities and noble contributions to human development and society in general before voting them into such national assembly office.
The aspirant, who is noted for helping many youths in the Central Senatorial district to fulfill their educational ambition and for self reliance, both home and abroad stressed the importance of quality representation in the Central Senatorial district of the state, a development he said people had been yearning for many years.
According to him, time has come when representatives of the district must be those with the required political sagacity to fulfill the yearnings and aspirations of the people, to bring about the much needed dividends of democracy for and sundry.
” I am an unrepentant believer in the concept of using politics to bring about maximum material upliftment and condition of the people,to ensure even distribution of the commonwealth, narrowing the wide gap between the rich and the poor and this is what I believe my people need now.
He advised the electorate in his district to vote for the candidate that would defence their interest at the Senate, adding that they should also to shun political thuggery and other ungodly acts capable eroding the value of such election process and results.
The Reporters recalls that after signing the bill into law on Friday in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari said the new legislation was aimed at revolutionalising elections in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on Saturday, February 25, 2023, while governorship and state houses of assembly elections will hold on March 11, 2023.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu,who disclosed on Saturday said that the new date is to allow for conformity with the provisions of the Electoral laws stipulating that elections notice be published at least, 260 days to the elections.
